Maker’s bio

From a very early age, Karen had an interest in crafts and would spend hours scouring beaches or hedgerows for materials such as rocks, flowers and wood to incorporate into some kind of  crafting. After getting her first rock tumbler at the age of 10, her interest in jewellery-making started to develop.

This interest has continued into Karen’s adult life and she practises a range of crafts including dressmaking, needlecraft, candle-making, greetings cards and beading.

In 2020, Karen moved to Liskeard, where she has started developing her own craft business. She is currently focused primarily on watercolour painting and jewellery-making, and says that she still finds herself scouring the local beaches and countryside for materials and ideas to use in her work.

Karen’s paintings take natural landscapes and plants and flowers as their themes. She produces a range of original watercolour and printed greetings cards. Her jewellery is created through a range of materials, including silver, natural stones and pearls, and is particularly suitable for wedding jewellery. She also works in wood and resin.
