art by bibi

Bibi Wilson is an abstract henna artist. Henna art dates back over 9,000 years and is most commonly practised in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Africa and the Middle East. It is the product of crushed dried henna leaves soaked and made into paste, and can be used for a range of decorative purposes. Bibi uses henna and acrylic paint in floral patterns to paint on canvases, ceramics, candles and directly onto walls.

I’ve always loved all forms of abstract art and enjoy fusing eastern and western traditions in my work.

Maker’s bio

Born in Bangladesh and growing up in London, Bibi learned her creative techniques from her mother, aunts and grandmother, skills passed on through countless generations.

Having worked in the NHS as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Bibi moved from London to the Liskeard area in 2017. But it was the periods of lockdown in 2020 which inspired her to return to her love of decorative art, and to turn her hobby into a business.

Bibi produces original unique henna artwork, and often works to commission, to suit her clients’ tastes in colours and styles, and of course to fit their budgets.
