Maker’s bio
During Covid, Nicky was unable to teach steel pans and turned to other creative outlets like sewing and clay work. After moving to Cornwall in 2021, she joined a local art group and enjoyed painting in acrylics. She sells some of her paintings at Penhale Pantry, Dobwalls.
She also joined a woodcarving group using her father's tools to create several pieces both for the garden and home. After a trial session of stone carving, which was enjoyable but physically very demanding, she found her passion for stained glass with a lovely lady in Truro. It was meant to be a morning workshop but seven hours later Nicky emerged from her studio elated by her experience and determined to give it a go at home. That Christmas, Nicky was set up with all the equipment and she has been making pieces ever since.
She loves making commissions for people and larger more quirky pieces as well as the smaller suncatchers. Nicky looks forward to making more 3D pieces and combining other materials like wood and metal.
